Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician
 

This 45-week non-semestered diploma program is designed to provide students with the skills to enter the heating, refrigeration and air conditioning field.

Graduates who successfully complete the Technical Standards and Safety Authority examinations are able to install, service, maintain and troubleshoot residential heating systems. Graduates may choose to enter an apprenticeship in air conditioning and refrigeration through employment with a qualified contractor/employer which will then qualify them to work on air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

The program is divided into three levels. At the end of the second level, upon successful completion of the provincial requirements, students may apply for OBT3 and G3 certificates of qualification. After successful completion of the provincial requirements at the end of the third level, students may apply for OBT2 and G2 certificates of qualification. Program hours are approximately 65% in-class theory and 35% practical applications.
