Many resources and opportunities for education and training are available to both employers and jobseekers at the local level. As well, both federal and provincial levels of government provide support, information, and programs that fund and direct these resources and opportunities.

March 2012: Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley has received funding through the Eastern Ontario Development Program for its 'Co-op Works' initiative that supports college co-op students and their employers. The college will be able to cover up to 50 % of the training costs incurred by employers who hire Algonquin co-op students. The program applies only to Pembroke Campus students and Renfrew County employers and is available in 2012 and 2013. All co-op placements take place during the summer months-May 1st to August 31st.
