Mitchell Wilkie is the manager of Economic Development Services in Renfrew County. He came to the County in 2003 with a wide range of global business experience, including 15 years of engineering and economic development project management in Asia, Central and South American nations, and Eastern European nations of the former Soviet Union. He holds a Master of International Management Degree, is a Certified Municipal Manager, and an internationally Certified Small Business Counsellor. Mitchell has written, co-authored, and published 21 books on various entrepeneurship topics in five languages. He has taught numerous college and university courses related to international business. Mitchell can speak about the trends, opportunities and economic conditions facing businesses and organizations in Renfrew County as well as some of the current initiatives currently underway in the County's Economic Development office. Pamela Duplessis is a Training Consultant for the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. She has worked with the Ministry in the Pembroke office for the past 18 years. Her job involves administration of the apprenticeship and trade certification programs for the areas of Renfrew County and Algonquin Park. Trade examinations are administered in her office every week. Pamela can speak about apprenticeship and trade certification to employer groups, industry, and training partners. She can explain the programs and options available, new rules, legislation, or government initiatives, and trends. Evelyn Culleton is the Coordinator of Continuing Education and Corporate Training at Algonquin College in Pembroke. She has a wide range of business experience. Upon graduating with a Business diploma from Graham Business College in Montreal she joined the Royal Bank. She held many roles during her 13 years with the Royal Bank which included several branch management positions. Evelyn headed a team of bank conversion officers within the systems and operation area which took her into branch operations throughout the Ottawa region, Renfrew County and several cities in Eastern and Western Canada. Evelyn joined the College in 1990 as a part-time instructor, she taught in the Business, Computer and Office Administration programs. For the next 10 years Evelyn continued to teach and operate her own consulting business. During this period she computerized and provided training to approximately 125 small to mid-sized businesses throughout Renfrew and Pontiac Counties. Evelyn can speak about programs and courses currently available through the Continuing Education department, as well as the options for specialized, focused and individualized training available to organizations and businesses in Renfrew County. She can also address the need for, and value of training in today’s changing economic environment. Jamie Bramburger is the Manager of Community and Student Services at Algonquin College in Pembroke. Prior to joining the College in 1999, he spent 13 years in broadcasting, most of those years as a News Director and Assignment Editor in radio and television. He specializes in media and public relations and is active in several community partnerships within Renfrew County. His current role at the College includes managing student services and the Job Connect program; marketing and recruitment of students; media, community, alumni and government relations; and leadership in labour market planning in Renfrew County. Jamie is a graduate of the Broadcast Journalism Program at Canadore College in North Bay. He has also taken several management and leadership courses, having earned certifications from the Algonquin College Management Development Program and the Chair Academy of Phoenix. Jamie can speak about the current full-time programs available at Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley, new College initiatives, and the Job Connect program. He can also talk about the economic value and importance of the College in terms of the labour market and the role the College plays in the fostering community growth and development. Gwen Rutland – is the Public Education, and Volunteer Program Co-ordinator for Women’s Shelter & Support Services. The Agency maintains a compliment of approximately 25 volunteers and Gwen provides the planning, delivery and evaluation of all aspects of the Volunteer Program. As Public Education Co-ordinator, Gwen co-ordinates and provides speaking engagements and events to the community in conjunction with Agency Staff and the Community Awareness Committee of Women’s Shelter & Support Services Board of Directors. Gwen also ensures co-ordination of the agency’s resources, and acts as the liaison between Women’s Shelter & Support Services and other service providers with similar needs to share training opportunities, workshops, and resources.
Gwen can speak about: How Abuse Affects the Workplace; Agency Programs & Services; The Issue of Abuse, and it’s impact on Women & Children. She may be of assistance with any fundraising initiatives in support of Women’s Shelter & Support Services.
