Skills Ontario – 2019

It’s Fall 2018 and we are preparing for another successful year at the Skills Ontario competition in Toronto from May 6 – 8, 2019. Our goal is to bring the largest and most diverse team yet, representing all of the talented and hard-working students and faculty here at Algonquin College.

Skills Ontario – 2017

Algonquin College is impressed with our 15 teams that represented us in the 2017 year at the Ontario Skilled Trades Competition with students from many program areas and across all three campuses.

Our medal count:

Gold – 2 IT and Network Support Restaurant Services Silver – 3 Auto Collision Repair Cabinetmaking Horticulture and Landscape Team (2) Bronze – 5 Auto Painting Hairstyling Landscape Design Restaurant Services Truck and Coach Mechanic

“The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best of the best in their field. Over the two and a half days, they turn the heads of their educators, family, friends and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver or Bronze medals – and some with monetary awards, too – and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition.”

“The Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC) features 67 skilled trades and technologies contests and 2,100 competitors from high schools and colleges across Ontario, making it the largest skilled trades and technologies competition in Canada. An estimated 20,000 spectators are expected to visit the competition over two days, with the Closing Ceremony on Wednesday, May 4th at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.”
