Student Checklist – Plan For Your Success

Check out all the items you’ll need for a succesful start at Algonquin College. You will be guided to a series of What, When and How To Do steps. Follow the links, complete the tasks and each will help you get ready!

October to September ontariocolleges.ca opens for applications into the next academic year in October. This means that if you would like to start college in September of 2017, you can start your applications in October of 2016. Starting the application process early allows you more time to gather required materials such as transcripts and to complete any other admissions requirements. It also means more time to complete any required assessments. Apply at ontariocolleges.ca. You can choose up to three programs at Algonquin College. If you are an International Student click here to apply. 
February 1 Applicants to all terms should complete their ontariocolleges.ca applications by February 1  for equal consideration and submit all outstanding documents as soon as possible. After February 1, applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis. For your best chance of getting accepted to a Highly Competitive Program apply before the equal consideration date. Apply at ontariocolleges.ca. You can choose up to three programs at AlgonquinCollege. If you are an International Student click here to apply. 
As soon as possible after applying Submit any documents requested for your application and complete any necessary assessments. Submit documentation on ontariocolleges.ca and visit the Test Centre for more information on assessments.

Starting February and March until September Acceptances to Programs at Algonquin College start being sent out in February and March and continue until September. Confirm your Acceptance as soon as you receive your acceptance to secure your place. Log onto the ontariocolleges.ca and confirm your Acceptance for your program of choice at Algonquin College.
May 1 Accepted applicants must confirm their offer by May 1 to retain their seat. Applicants who receive an offer after this date must follow the instructions and due dates in their email or letter. Any delay in confirming your offer can result in losing your seat in the program to which you have been accepted. Log onto the ontariocolleges.ca and confirm your Acceptance for your program of choice at Algonquin College.

Before June 15, or as soon as your acceptance is received A $500.00 non-refundable tuition deposit is due, the balance of your fees will automatically be deferred until the end of September. Failure to pay your deposit by this date can result in losing your seat in the program to which you have been accepted. Use Online Banking by adding Algoquin College as a Payee and using your Student Number as the Account Number, mail in a cheque made out to Algonquin College (reference your student number), or come in-person and pay by cheque or debit. May to August If you are an Ontario Resident, fill out and submit application for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). OSAP applications should be submitted by June.  If you are a Canadian resident, begin applying for bursaries and scholarships. Visit the Ontario Ministry website to apply for OSAP online or click here for Bursary information.

Before August 1 If you received a Conditional Acceptance, don’t forget to submit all your documents and results as soon as they are available. Failure to submit your documents by this date can result in losing your seat in the program to which you have been accepted. Submit documents on ontariocolleges.ca or contact the Registrar’s Office.

August 5 Timetables for Fall Semester become available on August 5 for students who have paid their deposit. Check yours on ACSIS! Logon to ACSIS. If this is your first time on ACSIS, use your Student Number and your birthdate is the default password. Plus, you can set up your Network Account Information. See this video for help.

August onwards Submit your photograph and collect your Student Card and U-Pass Log into your ACSIS account to obtain your network username and password. Submit your photo online. When you are collecting your student card, come before classes start in September to avoid lineups and remember to bring government issued photo ID.

If you are a student at the Ottawa Campus, collect your card at Room WC044a.

If you are a student at Pembroke or Perth Campus have your card sent to your campus.

August Using your Network Account Information, log into Blackboard and student email. For help accessing Blackboard, see this video or log into Blackboard and Live@AC for your student email. WiFi on campus uses the Network Account Information. The College may contact you using your Algonquin email address, so consider forwarding your College email to your personal email to keep well-connected.

August Get credit for your studies and work experience. Ottawa: apply for transfers of credit/exemptions on ACSIS.

August Join a sports team or consider membership to the Fitness Zone or fitness class at very reasonable student rates. Check out the Students’ Association for more information. algonquinsa.com and select your campus.
