The fact that you have chosen to use Counselling Services in confidential. Your Counselling file is kept in a secure place with in Counselling Services and no information will be released with out your written permission. In certain situations, there are laws that can make it necessary for your counsellor to release information without your written permission to other professionals. For example, your counsellor is required by law to report the following:

1. If you are at serious risk of causing harm to either yourself or another person.

2. If there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a child under the age of 16 is at risk of being abused or neglected.

3. Your counselling file has been subpoenaed by a court judge.

4. If you tell us that you have been sexually abused by a regulated health professional and choose to provide the name of that individual.

In order to provide the best service to you, your counsellor may share some information with other professionals with in Counselling services for the purposes of supervision and/or consultation only.
