Your Assessment Results

Your assessment results will be forwarded to the Registrar's Office and/or the appropriate academic division for review. The official decision will be communicated to you in writing by the Registrar's Office of Algonquin College. Please do not call the Assessment Centre for your results.

Applications to Other Colleges

Please be aware that these tests, while used at Algonquin, do not represent a provincial standard. You may want to use these test results to get into some other college or perhaps as part of a job application. Colleges and employers have the right to set their own standards and so may or may not accept the results of these tests as valid for them. Check with them before going to the expense of having us send copies of your test results.

How Long Are The Tests Good For?

Tests are normally good for one year spanning two application cycles. For example, if you were tested for Fall 2004, and you were satisfied with your scores, you could ask that these same scores be used for Fall 2005. If you wrote tests for January 2005, these same tests would be good for Winter 2005, etc.

If you want to bring your test scores forward, please make the request in writing and address it to the Test Centre :

How Many Times Can You Write Tests?

Right to rewrite : Supplemental Exam Privileges

Candidates often feel that they may not have done their best on their exams.  Perhaps serious personal circumstances were present, perhaps a medical or disability condition existed, perhaps they were nervous, tense or over-anxious.  Whatever the reason, the College grants a candidate one supplemental exam which can be taken under the following conditions :

  • This policy will be in effect for all programs starting in 2006.

  • This policy will apply to regular, post-secondary programs only.  Please contact the Test Centre for policies for other programs.

  • Only one supplemental exam per application is permitted.

  • The candidate will advise the Test Centre, in writing, that they wish to write the supplemental exam.  They will then schedule this exam by calling the Test Centre at (613) 727-4723 ext. 7079.

  • The candidate will be required to wait a minimum of 30 days before being allowed to write the supplemental exam.
  • The entire series of tests will be rewritten. (A condition which affected the results of one test could reasonably be assumed to have affected the results of the other tests.)
  • The results of the new series of tests will be substituted in their entirety, for the results of the previous series.  Candidates may not "mix-and-match" test results from both test sittings.  This substitution of results is automatic and without appeal.

  • The program selection committee and/or the Registrars Office will be advised of these changes in scores automatically, and it will be up to them to decide if a change to the accept/reject decision is warranted.  The College will advise the candidate, in writing, of any change in decision.

  • The normal testing fee will apply for the writing of these supplemental tests.

Right to Appeal

Candidates who disagree with the decision of the Registrar's Office and/or the selection committee may appeal the decision to the Registrar of the College. The appeal must be made in writing.
