Acclaimed psychic entertainer Dan Valkos made his annual appearance to the Observatory on Oct. 8, predicting the future on a variety of topics for a parade of interested students.

Valkos, who is Canada’s top radio psychic and teacher, has also been dubbed Canada’s most sarcastic psychic as humour and honesty play major roles during his readings.

“I’ve never lied to a client so sometimes I have to tell them what they don’t want to hear,” said Valkos. “I don’t sugar coat anything.”

The combination of comedy and truth affords Valkos with a great deal of respect and allows his clients to leave satisfied with what they heard. According to Valkos, approximately 95 per cent of his clientele leaves satisfied and he attributed this completely to his forthright style.

“That was a really cool experience. I really appreciated his honesty and how he could make me laugh as well,” said second-year student Sara Skinner.

The mastery of psychic teachings is based on a fundamental skill that everyone learns as a child, the ability to listen.  Valkos has obtained the highest level of listening and it has led him to an impressive professional career.

“You have to be able to listen - that’s number one. As a psychic I need to be able to listen to both the client and the voice inside my head to be effective,” said Valkos. “I do most of my readings on the radio so I don’t use body language as a point of attack.”

With nearly four decades of psychic work behind him, Valkos has done everything imaginable in the profession.  The impressive resume includes three books, a six season television show, over 1,000 radio appearances and a number of lectures at more than 750 colleges and universities. Despite all his commitments and hard work the wily veteran shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

“I’m never going to retire because the older you get the more respected you become,” said Valkos. “It’s hard to take a 25-year-old psychic seriously but a 60-year-old one is a lot easier.”

Valkos, who is based in London, Ontario, has travelled across North America and is currently on a 22 college road trip offering students with questions free readings.
