Over 170 students showed up Sept. 24 for a student orientation and blog launch, proof that the hard work of the Students’ Association was not in vain.

“I am incredibly pleased and so proud of the commitment the students have,” said Rob Nettleton, president of the SA.  “There were 170 class rep kits prepared and still it wasn’t enough, I had to tell students to drop by the office to pick up a kit.”

Laura Spragge, VP of the SA  is excited at what she feels is going to be a great tool for students to stay informed of what is happening in their school and how to get involved.

“I think this year is going to be busy and exciting, “said Spragge.

The board of directors blog will be a place for students to read up on students affairs.  It will also give students a place to get answers to questions on issues of interest.

“We (the board) feel that this is the best way to inform you guys and officially get your feedback,” said Nettleton.

As the finale to a successful meeting, the SA introduced Robyn Dell'Unto, a Mississauga-native who with her guitar sang and entertained students.

When Nettleton was finally able to sit down, and the Times was able to congratulate the SA on a job well-done, the satisfaction on his face said it all.

“It was fabulous…and I hope to hear from everyone,” said Nettleton.
