College Walk Program

In continuing with our philosophy of ongoing employee wellness, COL would like to take this opportunity to officially launch a College Walk program.  If you are not already following an exercise program, we would like to encourage you to take up walking, for all of the documented health benefits walking can bring

Want to Participate in Algonquin's Walk Challenge?

picture of people walkingIf you would like to participate in our Walk Challenge, you can record your walking steps in your walking log.  When you reach 100 km, please let us know and we will include you in the “Walk Hall of Fame”.   

You may also log in kilometres that you have walked for the day outside of College hours.  Some of you have already established your own walking routes and wish to keep them.

We have provided you with a variety of internal and external walking routes and a choice of various distances to suit your preferences.

Pembroke Campus:
Thanks to Maryanne Mask, Manager, Administrative Services in Pembroke, for helping to identify walking opportunities for folks at our Pembroke campus.

Walking Routes

1.  Walk up and down Peter Street
2.  Inside the Pembroke Memorial Centre (PMC), located on the west end of Lake Street.  4 laps of the upper level of the arena = 1 km.
3.  Kiwanis Walkway starting at the Pembroke Marina.  Total of 4 km

Perth Campus:
Thanks to Tracy Lancaster, Academic Clerk, for helping to identify walking opportunities for folks at our Perth campus.

Walking Route

The closest/safe places to the Perth Campus to go for a walk would be Last Duel Park or the Rideau Trail.
