Patricia Boal, Emcee

Journalism – Print, Class of 1994

AC alumnus Patricia Boal has spent decades covering local news in Ottawa and the surrounding areas. She currently co-anchors CTV News at Six with Graham Richardson. Before that, she worked for Ottawa’s CFRA news, The Score and Rogers TV. She has covered everything from the Paul Bernardo trial and the 1998 ice storm to several Olympic Games.

Initially intending to go to law school after completing her undergraduate degree, Boal’s time working on the McGill University Tribune newspaper led her to seek out the Algonquin College Journalism print program. She credits her time at the College as foundational to her career.

“Algonquin offered me a wonderful program, very practical, and it opened a lot of doors,” says Boal. “The fact that the teachers in the program were working in the industry was a huge bonus. I ended up getting a job through one of them. Attending the College was exactly the right step I needed to take to start a career.”

As emcee for the 2023 Alumni of Distinction Awards Night, Boal will help recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and impact of other Algonquin College alumni.
