Bachelor of Building Science Information Evening – April 14th, 2015

Are you interested in learning more about our Bachelor of Building Science degree program or how you may be able to bridge into a higher semester of the program using your current education? If so, please join us for the Bachelor of Building Science program information event being held on April 14th from 5:30-7:30pm in Room CA400 of the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE building).

We have two bridging options available to qualified individuals (both a 2 year and a 3 year option) or if you are just starting your post-secondary education, please consider applying to this four-year program.
Building science helps industry keep current by monitoring performance of the whole system when a component is changed and when the system is subjected to different conditions in order to understand and forecast building performance. Visit our information event to find out more about this exciting Bachelor Degree program.
This event starts at 5:30 but feel free to drop by anytime between 5:30 and 7:30pm.
Parking is free after 5:00pm in Parking lots 8, 9 and 12 – a five – ten minute walk from the ACCE building. OCTranspo’s Baseline Transit station is also located right next to our building. One of our 3rd year students, Martin Somers, is scheduled to be on the CBC show “All in a Day” this Tuesday, December 9th between 3:00-3:30 pm., to discuss his group’s project on the Windmill Isles site. He will be joined by one or two students from the Applied Museum Studies program as well.

New Endowment for Bachelor of Building Sciences Program from BECOR (Building Envelope Council Ottawa Region)

The Algonquin College Foundation is pleased to announce a new $25,000 endowment that was created by BECOR to support students facing financial challenges who are enrolled in the Building Science program in the Faculty of Technology and Trades. BECOR is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 and is committed to promoting advanced technologies and techniques in the design, construction and performance of the building envelope. The initial disbursement of this fund will take place in the 2014-2015 academic year. Thank you to BECOR for making a difference in the lives of our students today and for generations to come.

Official launch of the Bachelor of Building Science program held September 18, 2013

September 18th, 2013 marked the official launch of the Bachelor of Building Science program at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe Campus. Students from the new program as well as Chris Janzen, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Trades and Maria Parra, the Coordinator for the four-year Bachelor of Building Science program attended the launch of the program. The launch event was held in conjunction with an industry event put on by the Building Envelope Council Ottawa Carleton (BECOR). BECOR is a non profit organization committed to promoting advanced technologies and techniques in the design, construction and performance of the building envelope and ties in perfectly with the core of the new Bachelor of Building Science program.
