Student Testimonials

“I would like to extend my thanks to the Canerector Foundation for their support of students like me. I am attending Algonquin College in order to change my career, which required me to quit my previous job. This scholarship has given me enough breathing room to significantly decrease the stress I had about my finances this year and allows me to focus on my studies. I am also incredibly grateful that I will be able to use this scholarship to make connections in my industry and start networking within my field. Both the mentorship and the financial aspects of this scholarship have greatly benefited me and the other recipients this year. Thank you for funding this scholarship; it makes a huge difference in the student experience.”
– Katherine, Cabinetmaking and Furniture Technician

“I am so very grateful to be a scholarship recipient for the skilled trades and my motive power technician-heavy diesel and truck program for 2025-2026 at Algonquin College.

The scholarship funds I will receive will help immensely to ease some of the financial pressure and worry I had about how I’d pay for my school program.

I’m able to put more focus now on my studies and not stress so much about money. I’m glad to be a part of this program as it will motivate me to continue to work hard as I must maintain a 3.0 GPA. It also allows me to work on my leadership skills, and I get to participate in activities that will help develop more self-confidence and better communication and social interaction skills.

The monetary funds I get are like an incentive reward to keep persevering and to stay persistent with my studies. Without these funds I’d struggle financially, and this would increase my anxiety and deter from my studies. Now I feel relieved as this financial assistance is a major help, so thank you very much for selecting me.

Thank you very much for the scholarship. It has helped a ton with the financial burden on my college tuition and residence payments. I have truly enjoyed being a Canerector Scholar, and I am very grateful to have been selected for this opportunity. Thank you again for your generosity and support.”
Grayson, Motive Power Technician – Diesel Equipment and Truck

“I personally would like to thank you so much for giving me my scholarship. Over the last few years, I’ve had nothing but bad luck. After my father passed away, it made me realize that I need to start doing something that I truly love before it’s too late. Nothing has come easy to me; even though my physical appearance may say differently. Due to the fact that my brother is attending university I do not have the support that most students might have; I’ve even thought about giving up on my schooling due to my financial state. After receiving this scholarship, I’m happy to say that I do not plan on giving up any time soon and will do whatever it takes to fulfill the tasks given to me. This is more than just giving a few bucks to a student; this is a re-start to a kid’s future.”

“Thank you for choosing me for the Canerector Foundation Scholarship. I really appreciate it. This support means a lot to me because school can be expensive and this will help take some stress off me and my parents. It will help me stay focused on my HVAC program at Algonquin College and keep working toward my goals. I chose Algonquin because I wanted hands on learning and a program that would prepare me for real work. I chose HVAC because I like working with my hands and learning skills that I can use in my real career. My goal is to finish school and become a great HVAC tech. Thanks again for helping me with my education and my future.”
– Mackenzie, Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share and learn more about trades. I come from a family of hard-working business owners who have always pushed myself.

I couldn’t apply for OSAP due to my family’s household income being over the required amount. But I was also raised in a family where I don’t get given free hand outs.

I’m 19 years old, currently working as much as possible and paying off my whole tuition without any loans. This scholarship gave me the opportunity for more experience, and a helping hand with my tuition bills. I am forever grateful to have been given this chance.”

“Hello! I’m Hayleigh, I’d like to start with that I truly have no words to express how deeply grateful I am for these funds! Seeing that email pop up on my phone made me deeply thankful. These funds will help me drastically with financial stress from rent to school expenses, especially with other home stresses and not being able to be there. I have moved 2 and a half hours away from home to take the welding and fabrication course at Algonquin College.

I chose AC due to being somewhat close to home and also having the experience away from home. I am in my first year in welding and fabrication and spent all of my high school years saving up working almost full time all of grade 12 as well. I fell in love with welding in grade 11 and living on a dairy farm. This was going to be beneficial no matter what path I choose to follow.

Again, I am so deeply thankful to you for this amazing and insanely beneficial donation to support me and my schooling. I truly have no words on how thankful I am for this.

Thank you so much, and I wish you the best! “

“Thank you for your generous support. These funds will help relieve financial pressure and allow me to focus more on my studies and academic success at Algonquin College. I chose Algonquin because of its strong programs and opportunities for hands-on learning. I am grateful for this support as I work toward my future goals.”
– Abdul, Mechanical Techniques (Plumbing)

“Thank you so much for this opportunity! I am so grateful for being selected as one of the recipients of the Canerector Scholarship. This money will certainly help me with my future, as I am looking to take the plumbing apprenticeship course next year. This money will be going towards buying the tools and protective equipment I will need for continuing my studies in plumbing! I am excited to participate in more events from Algonquin College, and I will work towards being the best Canerector Scholar I can be.

Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity”
– Riley, Mechanical Techniques (Plumbing)

“I want to genuinely thank you for your generous support. This funding means more to me than I can express. It takes a lot of financial pressure off my shoulders and gives me the chance to focus fully on my studies instead of worrying about how I’m going to cover everything. Knowing that someone believes in my potential really motivates me to keep pushing forward.

I chose Algonquin College because of its strong reputation and the hands-on learning that helps students build real skills. My goal is to complete my program, grow both academically and personally, and set myself up for a successful career. This support brings me one step closer to achieving that, and it gives me the confidence to keep working hard.

Thank you again for investing in students like me. Your generosity truly makes a difference, and I’m very grateful.”
