From hands-on work to limitless opportunity: Dannen

In high school, Dannen discovered he enjoyed using his hands to build and fix things. Interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades, he was drawn to Algonquin College’s Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (HRAC) program because of its excellent lab facilities and reasonable program length.

“My interest in HRAC came from the opportunity I saw in the industry and how it opens up so many career path options,” Dannen said.

Most importantly, Dannen found the support he needed to succeed. His hard work was rewarded with generous donor-funded financial aid, and he recently graduated with honours.

Dannen is grateful to the donors who have supported him. “I don’t think I would’ve been able to achieve what I have achieved if it wasn’t for the support of donors. Their support meant less stress and more focus on my studies.”

Dannen’s advice for people considering giving to Algonquin College is simple: “Don’t think—do it.” The generosity of people who believe in supporting post-secondary education made all the difference for Dannen, who’s now at the beginning of a successful career in the trades.
