Province spends $4M to bring college students to northern Ontario

Students The Ontario provincial government is spending $4 million on a marketing program aiming to draw students from southern Ontario to colleges in the north.

Sault College president Ron Common says the goal of the program, called Study North, is to attract youth who wouldn’t otherwise consider Ontario’s six northern colleges as a primary destination.

Campaign launched for Ontario college system’s 50th anniversary in 2017

50thA website and publicity campaign were officially launched today to promote awareness of the Ontario college system’s upcoming 50th anniversary in 2017.

The campaign, called The Start of Something Amazing, will encourage reflection on the college system’s tremendous legacy and will look ahead to the next 50 years. Students, faculty, alumni, and communities throughout the province will be part of the celebration that begins in September 2016 and runs through to the end of 2017.

SAIT unveils new logo and drops ‘polytechnic’ from name

saitThe Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) recently unveiled its new logo and branding, the product of a year of research that led the school to drop “polytechnic” from its name and devise a colourful emblem.

“More than 4,000 voices united to contribute to SAIT’s new brand,” Carol Rogalski, marketing director at SAIT, said in a news release. “One piece of overwhelming feedback was the understanding that SAIT offers a polytechnic education, but having the word in the name wasn’t necessary. We listened and the new brand reflects that.”

Sexual consent awareness campaign begins in Quebec universities

Sans Qui C'est NonRecent cases of sexual assault on university campuses have prompted Quebec universities and student associations to launch a provincial awareness campaign.

The campaign’s slogan is,“Sans oui, c’est non!” or “Without a yes, it’s no!” to address the issue of sexual consent and assault. The campaign first started at the Université de Montreal and its Center for Harassment Intervention and its student federation.

Algonquin Wins Prestigious Advertising Award

2016 ViewbookAlgonquin College was recently declared a Bronze Winner at the 2015 Collegiate Advertising Awards. The College’s winning entry was the 2015 Algonquin College Viewbook.

The annual Viewbook is produced by the College’s Marketing and Recruitment Team.

The Collegiate Advertising Awards honour excellence in marketing and advertising, specifically within the field of higher education. This elite national program is broken into more than 40 categories—from billboard design and direct mail to radio ads and beyond.

Entries are evaluated in relation to similar-sized organizations in their specific groups and categories. A panel of industry experts reviews and judges each entry, scoring based on their creativity, design, production, and overall effectiveness.
