Employee WordPress Training

Algonquin College and WordPress

The growing size and popularity of the Algonquin College website requires robust and flexible technology. The decision to invest in a Content Management System (CMS) is based on its ability to meet our needs. WordPress offers ease of use, a portfolio of successful site deployments, low cost, and the availability of support and application development resources.

In addition to WordPress training modules outlined below, employees are encouraged to make use of our AC Website Audit Guide (.docx) to support optimization of their site(s). This resource can be accessed when reviewing existing sites or building new ones.

  • Using & Managing Media
  • Embedding Videos
    • Simply paste the url of a video in the main content area of a page or post. WordPress should automatically convert this to an embedded video.
      • If this doesn’t work – you may have to get an embed code or video sharing link from the service where the video is hosted.
      • Please note – do not upload video files directly into the Media Library. Please only use videos that are already hosted an en external service – eg: Youtube, Vimeo, etc…
