Champion-led Fundraising

Three Algonquin College students are walking in front of the Student Commons building. The image's caption reads, "Become a champion of your own fundraising campaign."

Fundraising champions are community members who lead fundraising campaigns for the benefit of Algonquin College students.

To accomplish this, fundraising champions rally their network of family, friends, and colleagues in support of new and existing projects.

How to be a successful fundraising champion

  1. Propose fundraising for needs that are relevant to Algonquin College students.
  2. Set a campaign fundraising goal between $5,000–$15,000.
  3. Set a campaign timeline to raise funds between 1–6 months.
  4. Discuss your campaign with the relevant academic or department leader at Algonquin College.
  5. Prepare answers to three important questions:
    1. What is the purpose of your campaign?
    2. How will you engage donors?
    3. How will the raised funds be used to support students?
  6. Submit your proposal about a month before you want it to go live on our website, as we need time to seek the necessary approvals.
  7. Once the campaign goes live, reach out to your network in person and online to inspire them to contribute.

How we will support you

As a fundraising champion, you are primarily responsible for leading your campaign and engaging donors.

To support you, we will create a donation form and feature your project on our Featured Funds page once your campaign proposal is approved.

Additionally, our team sends out e-solicits throughout the year to alumni, donors, corporations, foundations, and the community. This will drive traffic to your campaign, particularly toward the end of the calendar year, when many people choose to make donations.

Note: If you have any questions, including about restarting a previously approved annual campaign, contact us and we’ll get back to you shortly!
