Leo Valiquette Memorial Scholarship

Leo Valiquette appears holding a sword at the camera.

Leo Valiquette was a talented reporter, editor, marketer and fiction author who left his mark on Ottawa and, in the process, established many friendships.

Soon after graduating from Journalism at Algonquin College in 1999, Leo started working at the Ottawa Business Journal, first as a reporter, then as its editor, then as a longtime freelance writer. In 2008, he shifted his career to public relations, joining inmedia Public Relations to work with many technology companies both in Ottawa and internationally. In 2021, Leo realized a life’s goal when he published a 500-page fantasy novel titled Bane of All Things.

Leo courageously fought metastasized melanoma for five years, but was taken on May 19, 2024. His family and friends are asking for donations to be made in Leo’s name to help future Journalism students at Algonquin College.
