The Johannah Raphael Nursing Bursary

Johannah Raphael, born in Jamaica and immigrating to Canada at a youthful age, was a devoted nurse and mother. In order to fulfill her education requirements to become a nurse, she had to complete her nursing education at the University of Ottawa as a mature student given her earlier responsibilities of raising a family. As a nurse at the Montfort Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) and a teacher at Algonquin College, patient care and educating others in healthcare were two of Johannah’s greatest gifts.
