Algonquin College is once again offering free tax filing services for students at Ottawa Campus from Monday, April 6, to Friday, April 10 as part of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).

Tax Clinic locations and dates/times:
Room 126, Building C: April 6, 8 and 10, 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Room 105, Building CA (ACCE): April 7 and 9, 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Why file your tax return?
Even if you didn’t work or owe taxes, filing is still important! You may qualify for:

  • Refunds, benefits, and credits (like the Canada Groceries & Essentials Benefit)
  • RRSP contribution room
  • Tax history and income records that support permanent residency applications and future financial opportunities

Who can use our clinic?
Our clinic is for individuals with modest income and simple tax situations.

We cannot file returns for:

  • Business owners or self-employed individuals (including side hustles)
  • Individuals with foreign property or income
  • Quebec residents

Do you file taxes for students with side hustles or small businesses?
No. We do not file for business owners or self-employed income. We file only simple returns with minimal deductions.

Can I file with my spouse or family?
Yes, spouses and families are welcome as long as everyone meets the modest income and simple-tax criteria.
