Program Advisory Committees

Program Advisory Committees (PACs) help ensure program quality by aligning education with current industry practices, labour market needs, and employer expectations. Required for all full‑time programs, PACs are made up of volunteer industry professionals from outside the College who bring specialized expertise and insight into their fields.

Your Role as a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) member:

– Attend Program Advisory Committee meetings, which are typically held once per term in which the program is taught, two to three times per year
– Recommend and support work-integrated learning opportunities including co-operative education placements and related partnerships by leveraging industry networks
– Assist in identifying employment opportunities for program graduates
– Recommend current tools and equipment to ensure labs, shops, and facilities reflect contemporary industry standards
– Drawing on subject‑matter expertise and awareness of industry trends and labour market needs, advise the College on strengthening existing programs or developing new ones that enhance student skills, improve graduation outcomes, and support long‑term learner success
– Increase awareness of the College’s role in training generations of learners to meet the evolving needs of the community and region it serves
– Provide guidance in establishing scholarships and bursaries for Algonquin College students
– Serve as an ambassador of good will for the College by fostering positive relationships with local communities, businesses, industry partners, and professional associations
