AC Business School Chair Jim Kyte Awarded Governor General’s Gold Medal
Posted on Friday, October 19th, 2012
Jim Kyte, former National Hockey League Defenseman and the first legally-deaf person to play in the NHL, knows a thing or two about perseverance.
“I had a lot of people tell me I couldn’t do things because of my hearing impairment,” says Kyte “But I had a good role model in my house (in my father) and he said, ‘You may have a handicap, but you don’t have a disability.’”
Jim has completed his MBA from the Royal Roads University and he will also receive the Governor General’s Gold Medal, which is awarded to the best thesis or graduate project, for his work on the span of control of an academic chair at an Ontario post-secondary institution
Jim will be presented with the award at the Convocation ceremony on October 23 in Victoria, BC.
On behalf of the Dean, Chairs, and all the faculty of the School of Business, we send Jim our most heartfelt congratulations for this impressive accomplishment. Well done Jim!
