Do I need to wear a uniform?
Yes, we have to follow the food sanitation code.
How do I get my uniform/supplies and toolkit? Is the cost extra?
The uniform, footwear and supplies/toolkit are included in the tuition fee, and provided to each student at the start of the program.
What are some of the advanced skills I’ll learn in the second year?
Advanced skills include the following:
• Chocolate
• Sugar – blown, pulled and cast sugar pieces
• Specialty and wedding cakes
• Artisan breads
• Plated desserts
• Gum paste
• Nutrition and specialty products, gluten free and special diets
Are there any travel opportunities in the program?
Yes! Baking and Pastry Arts Management students have the opportunity to take part in an optional Culinary/Pastry Trip Abroad each year to study, cook and soak up a new culture in the picturesque village of Santa Maria, Italy.
Is there a field placement?
Yes, students gain industry contacts and professional experience through a mandatory 120 hours of baking industry field work experience completed over the duration of the program.
Do I get to taste the products?
Yes, the chef instructor will provide products for sampling.
Do I work by myself during practical classes?
No, you will be working in groups.
Do I need to buy a computer?
Your learning experience is enhanced through the use of online and mobile technologies in and out of the classroom, allowing you to work with course materials and participate in collaborative learning environments.
