Laptop (Mac or PC) that can handle Adobe Photoshop (I recommend at least 16MB of Ram). If you already have a laptop with these requirements, do not get the latest and greatest. Save that purchase for when you are accepted in an advanced program after this one. Please note: The iPad will not be acceptable for the software we use.

Minimum Photoshop system requirements on Windows

  • CPU: Intel or AMD processor with 64-bit support, 2 GHz or faster processor
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HDD: 100 GB or more recommended storage space
  • GPU: DirectX 12 support and 2 GB of memory
  • Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit) version 1809 or later
  • Screen Resolution: 1280 x 800
  • Internet connection is needed to activate the software

  • CPU: Intel or AMD processor with 64-bit support, 2 GHz or faster processor
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HDD: 100 GB or more recommended storage space
  • GPU: DirectX 12 support and 2 GB of memory
  • Operating System: macOS Mojave (version 10.14) or later
  • Screen Resolution: 1280 x 800
  • Internet connection is needed to activate the software

Additional Requirements:

  • A Scanner. (Or Scanner/Printer Combo): You will have access to scanners (for free and a cost) at the college. But in order to avoid lineups and headaches, it is highly recommended you have access to your own laptop. Scanner Apps on smart phones have not worked out in the past. If you can find something that can scan at full colour, 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) and save as a JPG, then that will be acceptable.
  • A drawing Tablet: You will need a drawing tablet for some of the classes. Any portable product that is compatible with your laptop will work. These can be tablets that you draw directly on a screen or a drawing tablet that has no screen. Popular companies include Wacom, Huion and XP Pen.
