Quotes About Autism Spectrum Disorder

“Being empathetic towards people with autism means nothing more or less than trying to see the world through their eyes, listening with their eyes, feeling with their heart…Because that’s where autism’s core is: the different ways of seeing, experiencing, understanding, in short: processing information.” – Autisme Centraal, Training Centre in Belgium

“Autism Spectrum Disorder affects people irrespective of gender, race, and socioeconomic status.” – United Nations

“If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” – Dr. Stephen M. Shore, Clinical Assistant Professor, Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, Adelphi University.

“Think of it: a disability is usually defined in terms of what is missing, but autism is as much what is abundant as what is missing, an over-expression of the very traits that make our species unique.” – Paul Collins, an American author who is a parent of a child on the spectrum.

“No matter the challenge, our special abilities make us strong; if you are like us, then try finding your own brain hack, and you could easily rise to the next level.”- Max, Algonquin College Student

We support students on the #ACSpectrum.

At Student Support Services, staff members showed their support for World Autism Awareness Day virtually by wearing a variety of colours to represent the beauty in neurodiversity at Algonquin College.
