Confirmed Cases at Algonquin College

As the College becomes aware of reported, positive COVID-19 tests by College community members that impact a campus, this page will be updated to provide a refreshed count of cases. The specific transmission source is seldom identified. Campus-involved cases are tracked to report on any cases where a member of the College community has likely been on campus during the infectious period.

Please be aware that, for every reported positive case, the College has measures in place to respond effectively and to work in consultation with the public health agencies responsible for each campus. When a report is received, the information is also forwarded to public health to ensure that there are no gaps in reporting. An investigation is commenced by the College to gather information surrounding the reporter’s previous whereabouts on campus and persons that may have been in contact with the reporter. This information is also available to public health to support their contact-tracing efforts.

Contact-tracing seeks to identify persons who may have been in close contact with the reporter during the period they may have been contagious. More information surrounding symptoms, close contacts and how to report cases are provided here.

Depending on the specific circumstances of the report, cleaning/disinfection procedures are implemented in accordance with the College Health & Safety guidelines. This may require closing a specific classroom or area of the College for a short period. Notification of cancelled class activities or other operations will be made at the time and any area that is closed will be identified by signs.
