Pulse Survey!

On January 26, Algonquin College will launch our first Pulse Survey! What does this mean for you as an employee?

We would like your feedback on:

  • The College’s response to COVID-19
  • Remote working
  • Psychological health
  • Resources provided by the College

Our survey provider is Metrics@Work, you may remember them from our 2019 Employee Engagement survey as they not only deploy the survey, they house the data and only deliver aggregate results to the College. The survey is completely confidential as nothing is routed through the College servers, everything goes directly to Metrics@Work.

Please know that Metrics@Work has worked closely with our Human Resources department to ensure the data is collected and stored in a secure and confidential manner. So, when you receive a link from noreply@qemailserver.com on January 26, it is from Metrics@Work!

The survey is not mandatory, but remember that this is your opportunity to provide feedback to the College regarding your experience during this difficult time. If there are any questions you are not able to answer, please select N/A or skip the question. Any question with an answer will be included in the results.

Please keep in mind that while the College will receive overall aggregate results, we will also receive results for select departments with over ten respondents. If there are less than ten respondents, no results will be given to the College.

What will the College do with the results? As there was in 2019, a Town Hall will be held in late February with results going out to Schools, Faculties and Departments at that time. There will then be results sessions and discussions for further action.

Employee Engagement Survey Results are In!

Close to 200 employees attended Wednesday’s Town Hall while many more watched via livestream at the Perth and Pembroke campuses to learn the results of the 2019 Employee Engagement Survey.

Highlights from his presentation include:

  • One of the things employees like most about working at Algonquin College is the people.
  • People are more engaged with their jobs than with their departments and the organization, with the exception of Support Staff. Of the three employee groups, Support Staff are the most highly engaged with the organization.
  • Overall score for engagement is 68. 3 per cent, which according to Yardley, “is something to be proud of.”
  • Co-worker relations are very strong.

Areas for improvement include:

  • Training Opportunities – organizational level
  • Hiring Practices – organizational level.

“I can tell you, Algonquin College people have an opinion. They’re not sitting in neutral,” said Yardley as he wrapped up his presentation. Judging by the laugher from those in attendance, it was an accurate statement.

The complete survey results are available on the employee engagement website.

NEW – What should we call our culture book?

Employee stories. Employee written. Employee named.

This special project is referred to as the Culture Book because it’s all about the different personalities and experiences that make up the AC culture. However, an official title has not yet been chosen; we’re waiting for YOU to submit suggestions!
Whether or not you have submitted a story, we want you to tell us what the Culture Book should be called.

We are accepting submissions until November 1st. Click here to submit a name idea for the culture book.

New Employee Engagement Survey Provider!

In June, we announced that we were putting out a Request for Proposal process for a new Employee Engagement survey provider as Spencer Stewart had bought out that part of AON Hewitt’s business. As the survey tool and demographics had substantially changed as well, the time was ideal to see what other companies were offering in order to meet our survey needs.
We are happy to announce that after a thorough Request for Proposal process, we contracted with Metrics@Work to be our new employee engagement survey provider!
