How do I get a link?

Links are sent directly by our survey partner – AON Hewitt, please check your deleted, clutter and junk folders to make sure your link didn’t get re-directed. If you still haven’t received a link, please send your request to AC-EES@algonquincollege.com and a link will be sent to you directly.

What is an employee engagement survey?

An engagement survey measures the degree of employee commitment to the organization. . Engaged employees have a strong desire to be a member of the organization; they speak positively about the organization; and they are willing to exert the necessary effort to help the organization succeed. Employees who are engaged are productive, innovative, and take ownership of results, thereby helping the organization maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Why is Algonquin College conducting this survey?

Algonquin College is committed to being one of the best employers in Canada. To achieve this goal, we need feedback from all employees about what we’re doing well – and what requires further attention.

Who is being asked to complete the survey?

All full-time and part-time employees will be asked to take part.

Are the survey responses confidential?

Confidentiality is top-of-mind. Aon Hewitt and Algonquin College will take the following measures in order to ensure respondent confidentiality:

  • Online survey will be sent out by AON Hewitt and hosted on their servers
  • Aon Hewitt will provide only aggregated results, so nobody at Algonquin College will see individual survey responses
  • Aon Hewitt will not provide results for any group with fewer than 5 respondents, individuals cannot be identified

Who is Aon Hewitt?

Aon Hewitt is the international consulting firm working with Algonquin College to conduct the engagement survey. They have over 50 years of experience in understanding employee dynamics and helping organizations design and implement HR programs and policies that drive employee engagement and business results.

What will be done with the results?

The survey results will help direct our focus to areas requiring changes or improvement. We will develop plans for meeting the goals we ultimately set, tell employees what those plans are, and then act on them. We know that follow-through is critical!

How soon will changes be implemented?

Effecting and implementing change will be a journey and can take time. Some of our actions will have an impact in the short-term, others may take time to have an impact. However, there will be opportunities for you to be involved at a departmental level, division and college level.

How long will the survey take to complete?

Approximately 15 minutes. The survey will include about 65 questions (6 additional for people managers only) and 2 open-ended comment fields. Please note – AON Hewitt has decreased the length of their survey from 90+ questions to its current length.

How will the survey be administered?

The survey will be completed online. For those who do not have regular access to a computer, please contact AC-EES@algonquincollege.com to receive a paper version of the survey.

When will the survey be completed?

The survey will be available from February 27th, 2017 to March 13th, 2017.

Do employees have to complete a survey?

Participation is voluntary and completely confidential. However, if we are to improve the work environment we need employees to tell us what is – and isn’t – working.

Does the online survey have to be completed in one sitting?

We realize that workday interruptions happen, so the survey can be exited and re-entered using a Return URL. Instructions are available in the survey itself.

Can a survey question be skipped or changed?

Yes. If an employee is unable or uncomfortable completing a question, it can be skipped. Provided they submit their survey, the questions they do complete will be included in the results.

What if a survey is started but not submitted?

Un-submitted surveys will not be included in the final results.
