As part of our effort in continuous process improvement we will look for ways to enhance the vetting process to validate questions being asked in future surveys.

Will the survey data be integrated with other data (e.g., Equity Data, turnover data, etc.)?

At this time the survey data will not be integrated with other sources due to complexity and the sensitivity of the data. This will be reviewed prior to the next survey period.

What is being done differently with the 2023 data compared to the 2019?

In terms of organization-wide initiatives, the College taking a different approach from 2019, where results were tabled and a cross-College team was formed to provide recommendations for action. This year we will be tabling the focus areas up front. When looking at the data, including our results from the 2021 Pulse survey, from 2019 fulsome Engagement survey, and the Final Report and recommendations from the Engagement Collaboration Team, similar themes continue to be prevalent.

For 2023, the Employee Engagement Collaboration Team will be leveraged as a forum to provide input into organizational-wide initiatives. Also, we will be taking a very robust approach to actioning the data within departmental areas. This includes a distribution of reports, access to an online portal to view results and resources (e.g., Employee Engagement Toolkit), and action plan tracking.

Why were results not immediately shared following the closure of the survey?

Our plan was to launch the Employee Engagement Survey in January 2023. However in 2023 the College became a part of the Federal Contractors Program which requires an Equity Census to be completed. Due to this competing timeline, the Employee Engagement Survey was pushed to be launched on March 20, 2023 and remained open until April 19, 2023 to solicit a higher response rate. Our third-party vendor, Metrics@Work, needed time to review and analyze the information as well as produce reports. A decision was made that as we approached the late Spring semester that it would be optimal to release the results in September which would allow areas to engage in action planning following the release.
