eCo-op Student FAQ
Before contacting the Entrepreneurship Centre and/or the Co-op & Career Centre, please review the eCo-op Student FAQs. Many common questions are answered there and may save you time.
If your question isn’t addressed in the FAQs, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help and want to ensure your transition into the Entrepreneurship Co-op (eCo-op) Program is as smooth as possible.

What is Entrepreneurship Co-op (eCo-op)?
The eCo-op program at Algonquin College provides a platform to bring your ideas to life under the guidance of an experienced mentor. From developing a business model to pitching your business to potential customers, eCo-op can help you turn your idea into a viable business – all while earning academic credit.
What are the eligibility criteria to apply to eCo-op?
To be eligible for the eCo-op program, you must:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a Co-op Program, with the exception of the Bachelor of Engineering, Automation & Robotics.
- If you are interested in applying, you must attend one of the mandatory eCo-op information sessions.
- Disclaimer: These sessions are limited to co-op students who are eligible for the eCo-op program only. For more information, please contact your Co-op Student Advisor.
- Present a business idea in your application that is relevant to your academic program.
- Meet all other eligibility criteria applicable to co-op programs.
Is it possible to apply as a team, or are only individual applications accepted?
You have the option to participate either as an individual or as part of a team. Teams of up to four people can participate in the program.
In the case of team applications, each student must submit their own individual application. We strongly encourage you to choose a team with members from different programs and fields of study.
What are the criteria for the business idea?
- The proposed venture must comply with Canadian regulations
- The proposed venture in your application must be relevant to your academic program.
- You must have the skills within your team/network to carry out the proposed venture.
Is eCo-op a paid program?
Students enrolled in eCo-op are not paid.
