Integrated Clinical Skills in IV Insertion and Venipuncture
Course: NSG0200
Practicing RNs and RPNs engage in hands-on learning to refresh and strengthen their skills in IV insertion, blood withdrawal, and venipuncture. Learners review anatomy, physiology, vein location and selection, IV insertion devices, and specimen container requirements, along with techniques for drawing from difficult veins, troubleshooting IV start complications, and maintaining infection control during skin puncture. Students set up and maintain intravenous therapy and perform blood collection procedures. Extensive lab practice using blood-filled simulated arms reinforces all skills.
