White Coats On: Welcome to the Lab!

Our first-year Biotechnology students recently reached an exciting milestone as they celebrated the start of their hands-on laboratory training with a White Coat Ceremony. The white coat is more than PPE. It represents the responsibility that comes with working in a lab and exploring the world of biotechnology.

From improving health and food production to finding solutions for environmental challenges, biotechnology has the potential to make a real impact. As they begin their journey, our students pledged to work safely, act with integrity, stay curious, and respect both their classmates and the living systems they study.

They also promised to support one another, learn from their experiences, and make the most of every opportunity the program has to offer.

And, perhaps most importantly…

They solemnly swore to label their tubes.

We’re excited to see what this group accomplishes as they develop new skills and begin their journey into the world of biotechnology.

Welcome to the lab, first years!
