Meet the Faculty
Laura Rogal-Black, Program Coordinator
Before joining the DSW faculty team, Laura completed degrees in psychology at St. Francis Xavier University andQueen’s University, and a research fellowship at Queen’s University at Belfast. She conducted research in early development, including studies of the relation between parenting style and preschool attachment, the effects of sound on prematurely born infants in a neonatal intensive care unit, and auditory learning and voice discrimination of fetuses with and without identified congenital anomalies.
Jennifer Currie-Roy
Jennifer is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, holds certification in Community Mental Health, has a DSW diploma, and a BA (Hons.) in Disability Studies from Ryerson University. Her career in developmental services began teaching adapted aquatics at the YMCA.
Jen is a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities and encourages her students to respect the unique contributions they make to our communities when considered as full citizens. Jen has a wide range of interests, including gardening, foreign films, hiking, Jazz singing, Tango dancing and scuba diving. Her classroom motto is to “take risks”.
