Supplies & Uniform Requirements
1. Supplies
- Name badge- approx. $10 ordered and purchased at Algonquin College Connections book store Must be worn for all lab and clinical practicum.
- Uniform and lab coat
- Closed toe and heel shoes (athletic or traditional nursing-type shoe)
- Cable brace – Can be ordered from the Algonquin College Connections book store for $79.99 or purchased online.
During Laboratory Classes and in Clinical Practicum, it is mandatory for students to wear the designated uniform and cable brace. The uniform is typically worn in the clinical area and the laboratory classes. A lab coat should be worn to cover scrubs when outside of the laboratory or clinical setting. Students are not permitted to wear uniforms outside the laboratory setting such as on the bus or out shopping but must only be worn for class.

The dress code, resulting in a unified professional look for all clinical and lab sessions, is as follows:
- Algonquin college uniform: You will only need 2 uniforms –pant and top for the first term. Not sold in Algonquin College bookstore
- Scrub pants- Any style, Any make (no yoga/ gym pants) Solid BLACK
- Scrub Tops- Any style, Any make, Color: Royal blue Royal Blue
- White Lab coat( no mandatory) –Any style, Any make
When choosing a uniform please keep in mind proper fit:
- Tops: Make sure that when you raise your arms, your midriff is not exposed
- Tops: Make sure to allow for movement through the shoulders and chest
- Pants: Make sure that when you bend over, the pants stay at the waist level- No undergarment to be shown
Please note that you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of your linens as this will reflect on professionalism and hygiene in the Lab classes. It is suggested that you wash your linens at least once per week or more often if visibly soiled. This ensures cleanliness for the laboratory setting and instills professionalism.
