Program Fees and Funding

Tuition
 - Students pay their regular Algonquin College tuition.
 - MTU tuition is waived.

Out-of-pocket costs
 - Students are responsible for arranging and paying for flights, accommodation, meals, and other personal expenses.

OSAP eligibility (while in Ireland)
 - Students receive OSAP as if they were studying in Ottawa (amounts are not adjusted for cost-of-living differences).
 - Manual adjustment may be needed in some cases; for example, if a student lives at home in the fall term and then goes on exchange, they should notify us so we can ensure they receive the “living away from home” allowance.

Additional funding (not guaranteed)
 - Canadian citizens and permanent residents may apply for the GuardMe Study Work Abroad Award.
 - Because the trip is longer than 49 days, eligible students can apply for up to $3,250 CAD.
 - Funding is not guaranteed (award decisions depend on the application process and available funds).

Spring 2027 Co-op Placements Abroad

Spring 2027 co-op option (Ireland)
 - Students on the MTU exchange may have the opportunity to complete their Spring 2027 co-op with an MTU placement partner in Ireland (likely outside Tralee).
 - If interested, students should indicate this on the exchange application form.
 - Placements are not guaranteed, even if the student is selected for the exchange.

Summer 2027 co-op option (other international locations)
-Students may also consider completing their Summer 2027 co-op in another international location.
 - Students are responsible for finding their own placement, but may consult their program coordinator for potential contacts.
