IRCC Updates
IMPORTANT UPDATE JULY 4th 2025 – PGWP ELIGIBILITY
On July 4, 2025 Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the list of eligible CIP codes to add back fields of study that were removed on June 25, 2025.
Those fields of study that were removed on June 25, 2025 will stay eligible until the list is updated in early 2026. Students choosing one of these programs will still meet the field of study requirement when you graduate.
PGWP eligibility is not based on program quality or regional labour market demands but on national long-term labour market needs identified by IRCC. Canadian immigration policies and laws are subject to change and may impact this list of programs. Please consult the IRCC website for the most current information.
Eligible CIP codes added on June 25, 2025 remain PGWP eligible.

IMPORTANT UPDATE JULY 4th, 2025 – STUDENTS MOVING FROM SECONDARY TO POST–SECONDARY
On July 4, 2025 Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the study permit guidelines for in Canada students moving from secondary (high school) to post-secondary education. You need to get a new study permit by applying to extend your current one to attend a post-secondary school. You can continue your studies at the post-secondary level while waiting for a decision on your new study permit application. If your study permit application is refused, you must stop studying immediately.
Important information: If you finish your secondary school studies early, your study permit will no longer be valid 90 days after you complete your studies, regardless of the date that is shown on your study permit.
