Leveraging Privilege: The Use (and Misuse) of the Hidden Curriculum with Martin Lee
The College and every professor have stated and hidden curricula: items which we explicitly teach, as well as those items we teach by example, intention and action. As the College moves towards a more global and diverse approach to our student body, it is important to recognize our privileged positions as professors, as well as the privilege which many of us carry from dominant cultural biases. As we consider our movements, statements and lessons, it is important to ensure that we actively seek to include those on the margins of society as well as those in the majority — this is the essence of the College’s core values.
