Lesson 3 – Design Options for Language and Symbols
As educators, it is important to honour and value the many ways students understand and use language. If we present information in only one format, students do not have equal access to information. When we design our courses to be inclusive, we should offer multiple representations of information, not just for accessibility purposes (i.e., perception), but also to assist with clarity and comprehension. This way, all students can create a common understanding of what they are learning (CAST, 2024).
