Lesson 2 – Blended Learning to Support Inclusive Teaching
All learners deserve the opportunity to feel included, supported, and able to thrive in their education. However, this isn’t the reality for all learners. Learners that are marginalized, neurodivergent, intercultural, first-generation, or identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Colour) may not feel adequately included nor supported. Further, there is a lot of data to show that these groups have lower grades and/or lower graduation rates (DaVinci, 2023). Hybrid courses provide a particular opportunity to reduce these equity gaps through greater opportunities for flexibility and creating a community that extends beyond the physical classroom.
