Lesson 5 – Summary

As Garrison & Kanuka emphasize, “Blended learning is inherently about rethinking and redesigning the teaching and learning relationship… We must seriously reflect on how to design and deliver higher education… Blended learning offers possibilities to create transformative environments that can effectively facilitate [critical, creative, and complex thinking skills]” (2004: 99).

In the next module, “Designing a Hybrid Course”, you will be introduced to considerations for designing and implementing blended learning. Before doing so, take a moment to reflect on the benefits of blended learning.

Reflection on Blended Learning

In what ways might students benefit from engaging in a blended learning environment?

Discipline or Subject Consideration
