Lesson 4 – Design Options for Building Knowledge
Education helps students use information, turn it into practical knowledge, and discover new ways to engage with ideas. To do this well, students use skills to make connections, ask questions, pay attention to what is important, memorize information, integrate new information with prior knowledge, and synthesize information, all while participating in collaborative knowledge building (CAST, 2024).
Choose how to learn:
- Watch: Select the green information icons in the image below to open video explanations with examples.
- Read: Design Options for Building Knowledge. This Word document is a text alternative to the videos and contains descriptive links to additional resources and citations.
One way students build knowledge is by connecting what they are learning to what they already know. But there are some cautions.
