Project Hero

Algonquin College is among several Canadian colleges and universities who have signed on to Project Hero. This initiative provides free tuition to the children of Canadian soldiers who are killed in active service.

Military - project hero Algonquin College became the first Ontario College to Implement Project Hero in October 2009. A first-year Business student at the Pembroke Campus received free tuition when her father was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2006. Read more on the Project Hero award.

To be eligible to receive up to eight semesters of paid tuition, applicants must be:

  • enrolled in a full-time program at any one of Algonquin College’s three campuses
  • citizens or permanent residents of Canada
  • under 26 years of age
