Waterfront Cleanup

Waterfront Cleanup, Environmental Technician Program, Algonquin CollegeJoin the Environmental Technician students in the collection of the garbage along the waterfront of the Ottawa River!

  • Starting point: seating area on the waterfront side of the campus

Garbage bags, rubber gloves & refreshments will be provided. This activity is open to students and staff!

Attention students: Did you know that you also get a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) for volunteering for this event! The CCR is a great resource for Algonquin College students to track, record, and print a record of their college-affiliated volunteer and leadership involvement.

Dr. Jeremy Whitlock is a Past President of the CNS, Co-Chair of the CNS Education & Communication Committee, and a member of the CNS Chalk River Branch. He has been a CNS member since 1988 when he joined as a student at McMaster University.

He is currently the Manager of Non-Proliferation and Safeguards at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, with responsibility for ensuring that reactor design at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) meets international obligations on nuclear weapons non-proliferation.

Dr. Whitlock received a B.Sc. (Physics) from the University of Waterloo in 1988, a M.Eng. (Engineering Physics – Nuclear) from McMaster University in 1991, and a PhD (Engineering Physics – Nuclear) from McMaster in 1995. Dr. Whitlock is a public speaker and author on nuclear issues, including a regular column in the Bulletin of the Canadian Nuclear Society and The Canadian Nuclear FAQ, a website of frequently-asked questions (FAQs) on Canadian nuclear technology. He received the CNS’ 1999 Education and Communication Award for his work on this website. Dr.

Whitlock lives with his wife and three children in Deep River, Ontario, and feels that canoes are the closest Mankind has come to inventing a perfect machine.
