Bachelor of Science in Nursing Awards
The General Proficiency Award for Nursing
This award is presented to a graduating Bachelor of Science in Nursing student who has consistently demonstrated high academic achievement and who has provided efficient and conscientious clinical nursing care. The award was established in memory of Dr. I.D. Cotnam by his wife, Mrs. Cecelia Cotnam and Dr. Cotnam’s son, Dr. H.B. Cotnam. Dr. Cotnam, an active medical doctor in the city and area from 1910 until 1965, gave many nursing students the benefit of his knowledge and experience during his career.

The Lois Cahill Memorial Award
This award was established in memory of Lois Cahill, a graduate of the Lorrain School of Nursing. This award is presented to a graduating Bachelor of Science in Nursing student who has demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, the ability to work effectively as a team member, and who has been supportive of other students during the program.

Early Childhood Education Awards
The Children’s Garden Literacy Award
This award is presented to the graduate of the Early Childhood Education program who in class has demonstrated an appreciation of children’s literature and has shared insights about the value of literature.

This award is presented to a graduate of the Early Childhood Education program who has demonstrated an exemplary sense of compassion towards children and their families, co-workers and other professionals in the community.

The Wise Owl Day Care Award
This award is presented to the graduate of the Early Childhood Education program who has exemplified professionalism. He or she has done so by maintaining confidentiality, accepting children, families, peers and staff in a non-judgmental manner and having a genuine respect for uniqueness of families and individuals.

The Renfrew County Early Childhood Education Program Directors’ Memorial Awards
This award is in memory of RECEs who are no longer with us and who showed great passion and compassion for children, families, coworkers, and the early learning environments they enriched. Honouring their legacy, the award is presented to a graduate of the ECE program, as selected by their professors.

The W.T. “Eldon” Craig Memorial Award
This award was established by Mrs. Craig in memory of her husband, Eldon Craig, a long-standing employee of Bell Canada, in recognition of the tremendous contribution social service workers provide in this community. This award is presented to the most outstanding graduate of the Social Service Worker program.

Personal Support Worker Award
The Pat Hern Excellence in Palliative Care Award
This award is presented to the graduate in the Personal Support Worker program who best demonstrates a love and dedication to palliative care. The award recipient provides exemplary and compassionate client-focused care that encompasses best practices and client and family values during the palliative stage of life. This award was established in memory of Pat Hern by her loving family. She was an avid teacher who received excellent care from Personal Support Workers during her palliative stage of life.
