Part-time Studies

All of the full-time programs offered at the Pembroke Campus can be taken on a part-time basis pending seat availability. Please note that priority is given to full-time students. This allows you additional flexibility to study on a schedule that fits your life. You can even choose to study one course at a time and pursue your own interests. This fall we will be delivering many of our full-time programs remotely – this means that you can enroll and study from your home with the real-time guidance of a professor and connect with fellow classmates. Program delivery details can be found on each of the program pages.

How to become a course registrant in a full-time program

  • Students require written permission from the appropriate Academic Administrator to register as course registrants in courses offered as part of a full-time program.
  • Students are allowed to register in a maximum of three courses per term as a course registrant. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Students wishing to register in more than three courses in a term require the written permission of the appropriate Academic Administrator.
  • Students may not register in courses if specific academic prerequisites set by the department have not been met. Students are responsible for ensuring that they have fulfilled the published prerequisites. Failure to complete this requirement may result in the student’s course registration being withdrawn;
  • Course registrations are not processed until one week prior to the program start date pending seat availability.

How to graduate with a credential as a part-time student

  • If you want to attend a full-time program on a part-time basis, you must meet with your program coordinator to receive permission and submit a part-time registration form to the Registrar’s Office. You’ll also need to pay a deposit at that time in order to be registered.
  • If you wish to be attached to a program (for sponsorship/funding/letter purposes) you must apply to the program at ontariocolleges.ca.

How to access financial aid as a part-time student

In order to be eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or other provincial student loans and grants, students must have a course load of 20% to 40% of a program of study. Students must also be attached to the program by applying through ontariocolleges.ca.
