Pembroke Campus Convocation Code of Conduct:
Convocation is an important milestone and shared celebration for graduates, families, guests and employees. To help ensure a safe, and respectful experience for everyone, graduates are asked to review the following expectations.
- Graduates remain subject to the Student Conduct Policy (SA 07) and that I will act respectfully and will not engage in any disruptive, unsafe, or illegal activities. Breach of this policy may result in removal from the ceremony, arrest, and/or loss of College privileges including technology system access, email, future registration consideration, or even withholding of a credential.
- Graduates must follow directions from College and venue personnel and will make myself aware of, and comply with all policies – including their restriction on posters, banners, signs, and flags.
- Graduates not permitted to carry bags/purses (of any size) or objects that could be used as a weapon into the gowning rooms or on stage.
Convocation Expectations
Graduates must be aware that:
- They must arrive one hour prior to ceremony start time.
- If graduates arrive late, it may jeopardize their ability to cross the stage their peers.
- Convocation is a shared celebration, and that, out of respect for fellow graduates and their families graduates must remain present for the full duration of the ceremony
- Only the official Algonquin College issued regalia may be worn on stage. (Note: In recognition of Canada’s commitment for Truth and Reconciliation, Indigenous graduates may choose to wear traditional attire or regalia.)
