1. Health Requirements and Documentation:
Students accepted into the Social Service Worker program must meet the following health requirements: Provide evidence of full and complete immunizations. The Algonquin College Health Services will review the student`s record of immunization and provide authorization for entry into field placement. Some field placement agencies may require other vaccines such as the Influenza vaccine. All placement documentation must be sent to Placement Pass by ParaMed.

2.Field Placement Eligibility:
To be eligible for placement, you must submit proof of a PRCSVS (Police Record Check and Vulnerable Screener, which will be retained in ParaMed and used only for purposes related to your placement. You will be required to disclose the contents of the PRCSVS, including all notations, to the Department Chair and the placement agencies.
It is your responsibility to obtain the PRCSVS from your local Police Department prior to the deadline identified by your Department and to pay any associated costs. It may take a long time to obtain this documentation; please submit your application as early as possible. Should you require further information, contact the Program Coordinator.
Students must also obtain First Aid and CPR level C certificate in order to be eligible for field placement.
3. Police Records Check Documentation:
Though not an admission requirement, applicants must note important information listed below regarding Police Record Check program requirements.
Successful completion of field placement is a requirement for graduation from the Social Service Worker program. Agencies that provide placement opportunities may require you to have a clear Police Records Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector (PRCSVS). Your acceptance for placement is at the discretion of the agency. If you register in the program and do not have a clear PRCSVS and as a result are unable to participate in placement, you will not be able to graduate. Please see the letter linked above.
Submission Instructions
Clinical/Field Placement Requirements clearance process is done through ParaMed Requisite, an approved third-party agency who processes Algonquin College students’ documentation.
To upload and submit your documentation to the ParaMed Requisite Program platform, go to: https://algonquincollege.requisite.ca/
To have access to ParaMed Requisite Program platform you must:
• be registered (tuition fees paid)
• have received your Algonquin College network account information
**Please note that your Algonquin College network account will not be created until 2 weeks before the start of the semester. Your Algonquin College network account is used to access almost all college digital services including student email.
Instructions on how to activate your Requisite student account, and upload and submit documents can be found in the Requisite – Student Information Package.
Adobe Scan or an Alternate mobile app can be utilized to scan all of the documents you are required to upload/submit.
Fee(s) will apply once you submit documents. The cost for your first comprehensive submission will be $65 in your first semester. All other submissions in the same semester will be at no additional cost.
In your 2nd semester and on, the first submission of the semester will be $32.50 with additional uploads being fee. However, if you are only submitting a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), proof of Influenza vaccination or COVID vaccination those uploads are always free, and you will not be charged $32.50. If you are required to submit proof of other immunizations, bloodwork, or certifications there will be the $32.50 fee associated with that upload.
Fees include unlimited nurse interactions via the “Ask a Nurse” feature, and access to student drop-in sessions.
Keep all original documents, as you may have to provide it to agencies upon request.
Missed Deadlines
Failure to adhere to the mandatory placement requirements deadlines may result in:
- An administrative late fee of $50.00. This fee is payable to Algonquin College – Pembroke Campus
- A hold on your registration in the practicum/placement course until all requirements are submitted. This hold may result in the loss of the academic term. Students will not be cleared for placement until all requirements are submitted
- A Professionalism Letter on your student file
