Job Description

The job entails the precise planting of diverse crops from field crops such as wheat, corn, soybean, field bean and peas, to vegetable crops such as tomatoes, peppers, cruciferous crops (broccoli) and many more. The planning and staking of the trials with appropriate mapping will be done. Candidates will learn how to do applications of various treatments and assess plots during the summer and will be responsible for collecting and entering data into computers. As well occasional work in the research greenhouse will be done with air seeders and horticultural training will be given. An eye for detail is therefore needed in all aspects of this job. Due to the high number of research trials often carried out, extended days will be expected during the busy periods (usually spring) as well as occasional work on weekends. Since we are very weather dependent, we often have to work odd hours to get things done. Numerate and able to work outside for prolonged periods of time is essential. A current driver’s license and knowledge of operating farm equipment would be welcome.
