Youth Summer Position – Community Services Assistant

Job Description

The Table Community Food Centre is seeking an energetic, responsible and motivated youth to fill a summer position. The Community Services Assistant will work primarily with the Good Food Bank Coordinator to support the staff and volunteers of the food bank with basic operations including: assisting participants access food through in-person shopping, pick-up and delivery, developing educational materials, and receiving food donations. The position requires lifting 45 lbs boxes occasionally throughout the day, and possibly through eight stair steps. The candidate must be able to stack boxes chest-high. An ideal candidate will have strong people and communication skills, have an enthusiasm for healthy food, a commitment to working with the community and strong computer skills.

Candidates must meet the Canada Summer Jobs criteria:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial regulations

The details of the position are:
• 35 hours per week
• $19/ hr
• Total of 8 weeks through the summer, ideally consecutive weeks from late May to August
