Loon Kombucha is looking for a full time brewer to help with brewery operation. Our growing company is looking for a cook or chef with a sensitive palate who is interested in developing their beverage-making skills, take on lots of responsibility and help a brand grow and flourish. Overview:

The Brewer at Loon Kombucha primarily focuses on the product: brewing, packaging, cleaning and maintaining records at the brewery. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, assisting with producing and packaging kombucha, running tests on products in progress, following cleaning and maintenance schedule and procedures, cleaning all equipment and packaging, following our inventory management practices, and working with other members of the team to ensure all kombucha that leaves the facility is of the highest quality. The Brewer also works on sales, interacting with customers and clients in person and over the phone. The Brewery Assistant will help with deliveries too so driving experience is a must.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

Brew and package kombucha according to brew schedule and per direction from the Brewery Manager
Assist with brewing, cooling, fermenting, flavouring, carbonating, and racking kombucha, and ensuring all brewing processes are recorded properly
Keep Brewing Facility clean and functional at all times
Follow Cleaning & Maintenance Schedules and consult supervisor about cleaning needs
Participate in and occasionally lead the bottling process, ensuring for packaging quality and team efficiency
Assist with inventory counts of finished kombucha stock and other supplies
Follow inventory procedures for all raw materials, chemicals, kombucha, small parts, packaging, supplies etc. and report deficiencies to supervisor.
Monitor quality, temperature, pressure, and carbonation of kombucha in tanks
Work with Brewery Manager to keep an improvement log on all issues as they develop
Represent Loon Kombucha regularly at farmers market and occasional events, festivals and promotions. Promote good public relations and handle complaints and concerns.
Perform shipping and receiving duties as required; including preparing orders, receiving and sending out shipments using the forklift
Follow all brewery and GNB policies and procedures and follow current developments in local, provincial and federal laws applicable to safe food handling, health standards etc.
Label all kegs and other package product in accordance with federal and provincial law using appropriate keg collars, labels and date codes.
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time

Education and Experience:

Brewing experience or experience as a cook or chef in a restaurant
Experience in a Commercial Brewery considered an asset
Valid G License and excellent driving record
Experience following recipes and developing menu items
Customer service and sales experience
Food Safety Handling Certificate or willingness to complete
Forklift certification an asset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of good food manufacturing practices
Knowledge of kombucha and fermentation
Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
Possess the ability to multi-task and manage stressful circumstances associated with a fast-paced and evolving work environment
Knowledge of ordering and inventory control.
Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.
Good understanding of quality assurance / quality control and problem solving skills
Physical strength to lift kegs and cases is essential
